This is a game between two beginners that are fairly seasoned in abstract games in general. Very early in the game Red decides on a questionable strategy that separates his forces. This was part of the plan, but it put him in arrears in terms of growth. So Red goes through a cramped middle game. However, Purple underestimates the importance of dominance on the Wall and Red manages to accumulate quite a force in his confined space. Eventually it proves enough, but only barely so.
