Leapfrogging

Many if not most basic tactics are based on leapfrogging, that is: who captures how many times and who has 'the move' afterwards? In endgames 'having the move' means being able to take opposition.

Emergo knows one-on-one opposition. In consequence in a position where both have one piece of equal strength, the player having the move wins! A one man difference in caps always wins irrespective of initial opposition! Here's a cap of 6 against a cap of 5, defender in opposition. It should be self-explanatory.

Roundabout capture: arranging the opponent's pieces into a square or any configuration allowing roundabout capture, and decapitating the whole in a single sweep. Having 4 roughly equal caps can be dangerous!
